Lhamo and Skalbe are unable to marry when they discover that Skalbe already has a registered marriage. Memories rush back as Skalbe embarks on a journey in search of his ex-wife Cuoyehe, only to discover that the girl had renounced her secular life when she broke their marriage promise four years ago. Cuoyehe’s religious identity greatly hampers Skalbe’s attempt to secure a divorce. Meanwhile, Lhamo grows distant.

This documentary is a love story. A love story between two people, two cultures, and a love for the spiritual journey offered by Tibetan Buddhism. Phil Bathols is an Australian and Sonam Ongmu Denzonpa is Sikkimese. Telling the story of their wedding in the Himalayas, this enchanting program is also a meditation on love, marriage and Buddhism. It is an intimate story about a Sikkimese Buddhist family and their relationship with the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism and its leader, His Holiness the 17th Karmapa.

The contrasting dreams of two generations clash within the microcosm of an ancient Buddhist monastery in Bhutan, when Gyembo an ordinary teenager is chosen as the next guardian of their family monastery by his father.
