Shambhala

Life in the heart of the Himalayas is characterized by harmony, but also by the rigid rules of the local communities. The energetic Pema loves Tashi. But to marry him means entering into a polyandrous marriage with his two younger brothers. Pema soon becomes pregnant, just as Tashi is away on a long business trip to Lhasa, from which he fails to return. Rumors begin to spread through the conservative village that Tashi is not the child’s father. While Pema keeps the truth of her fidelity to herself, she must find her missing husband in order to defend her honor in the snow-covered mountains. In Nepal, such an odyssey may well lead to the spiritual kingdom of Buddhism called Shambhala.
